Hey, I'm running a Mac Pro (Early cardboard dividers 2008) with 6GB Ram, Parallels cardboard dividers 6 and the latest cardboard dividers version of Snow Leopard and have been having intermittent hangs in the system where kernel_task takes up all the processing power to the point where the mouse can barely move around for about 10-30 seconds and then things clear up. Happens several times a day. I thought it was a failing hard drive so I replaced the drive with a brand new one and am still having the same problem. I tried rummaging through the console logs and did notice some things failing having to do with parallels. Can someone help me with 2 things, 1, provide you with the proper info and log info and 2, help me figure out if parallels is in fact the problem? Thanks.
768 MB. Would this effect things even when Parallels is not running? Does it's processes in the LaunchAgent and LaunchDaemons pull from this preference? cardboard dividers
Parallels settings do not effect things when Parallels is not running. What things do you see failing in the console log? You can copy and paste here. Are you using Time Machine? Are you using virus or disk protection utilities? Try disabling those.
Post the console logs where you "noticed some things failing having to do with parallels". What operating system are you running on the virtual cardboard dividers machine? You are posting to the Mac OS X Guest OS Discussion forum so that means it's Leopard or Snow Leopard. So is it kernel_task cardboard dividers on your Mac or on the virtual machine that is taking up all the processing power? cardboard dividers Are the logs from your Mac or the virtual machine? Your Mac has 6 GB of RAM so you could possibly allocate 1 or 2 or even 3 GB to the virtual machine.
here cardboard dividers is the fresh parallels log from today. i pulled it right after the problem cardboard dividers occured. i'll post the system log after this is reviewed. cardboard dividers Parallels was not directly running cardboard dividers at the moment this happened. Let me know if anything stands out.
