Construction projects 'Bus Rapid Transit' (BRT) or rapid bus at a cost of RM549 million in Malaysia is expected to be completed and operational in 2015. The salient features of these services is the use of eco-friendly electric bus with seven stations and a pilot facility and parking (Park and Ride). The first route linking Bandar Sunway and Subang Jaya, is expected to benefit 500 thousand people around Bandar Sunway and Subang USJ. "It will be a historic success and icons to the BRT projects," said Chairman of the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAS), Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar told reporters after visiting the project site yesterday.
Syed Hamid satisfied when told the project is already 32 percent complete. He said that in the initial phase, the transport system is expected to bring two thousand passengers on each trip and 30 thousand passengers per day with a frequency of every five minutes. BRT route will connect Sunway Sri Setia KTM stations and Kelana Jaya LRT and USJ Subang Jaya. "Soon people around Petaling Jaya will enjoy a comfortable bus transport electricity with sophisticated amenities and environmentally friendly," he added. A total of 12 BRT routes identified and will be undertaken in stages across the country and developed by United Engineers and Sunway Berhad.
Land Public Transport Commission Concerning the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) is a statutory james mcdonough body established under the Land Public Transport Commission 2010, which was passed in Parliament in May 2010. Improvement of public transport in Malaysia is part of the objectives of the National Key Result Areas known as NKRA Government Transformation Plan (ETP), which is led by Dato 'Sri Mohd Najib Tun Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia. SPAD urged to use public transport and land that face any kind of harassment or fraud involving public transport drivers to immediately come forward and make a complaint directly to SPAD, through online and manner as follows:
